WHERE YOU’LL FIT IN THE TEAM:
The Senior Organizing & Communications Associate will be an integral part of the Engagement & Growth Team and the Communications Team. This position will maintain relationships with and engage a portfolio of assigned V4P members to participate in public policy advocacy and political activities; maintain membership data; support organizational communications with members, media, and other stakeholders; and assist with the smooth functioning of the Engagement Team and Communications Team. This position is a non-exempt position. This position performs some similar responsibilities on behalf of a 501(c)(4) sister organization focused on building relationships with and electing progressive candidates with a focus on under-represented communities. The position title is officially “Senior Engagement & Communications Associate.” The title “Senior Organizing & Communications Associate” is used in this job posting for ease of understanding regarding the position’s responsibilities.
The position is ideally located in Washington, D.C., or California, but applicants from other areas will be considered. Currently, staff may choose to work remotely. Occasional travel is required to Sacramento and around the Washington, D.C. area to attend coalitions, conferences, meetings, and events as needed. Reasonable alternatives may be available.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Membership Activation on Policy Advocacy and Political Programming: Facilitate V4P members taking action on federal and California state policy issues, participating in relationship building efforts, engaging in political programming, and attending multi-day Advocacy Summits and other V4P member events/programming.
Membership Maintenance: Build and maintain direct relationships with V4P members and play a role in efforts to sustain and strengthen a sense of community among V4P membership, including through peer-to-peer member interactions, events, etc.
Communications: Assist in all aspects of the organization’s communication efforts, including drafting text and graphics, coordinating the member newsletter creation and email software, updating the social media presence, press lists, and other communications tasks.
Administrative: Provide general and administrative support for the Engagement Team and Communications Team. Maintain data in, and coordinate Engagement Team and Communications Team use of software programs and other records. Assist with administration of Salesforce database as needed.

- Compensation: The salary for this position is $54,000 or more, plus overtime as needed. Final salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- 403(b) Plan: We match 100% of the first 4% of your contributions and 50% of the next 2% for a maximum of 5% of your salary.

WHAT YOU BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- At least three years of experience in a related field (e.g. community or campaign organizing, donor organizing, grassroots or grasstops advocacy, or membership engagement). An advanced degree may substitute for experience.
- Able to build and sustain close interpersonal relationships with V4P members.
- Excellent at writing for advocacy and persuasion. Clear communicator.
- Able to quickly learn relevant policy and political topics to engage donor advocates on these topics.
- Superb attention to detail and ability to organize significant amounts of information.
- Very strong computer skills, and willingness to learn new software as needed. Competency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite required. Knowledge of mass email software and Salesforce is a plus.
- Experience working with progressive/liberal grasstops leaders and major political donors is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-office organization, in which change is not uncommon.
- A team player who collaborates well with others and able to manage numerous small assignments simultaneously.
